Mojo Monday 468 Challenge Birthday Card

Mojo Monday has a new challenge up and it's a really fun sketch. Check out the challenge here! I decided to make a Twist and Pop Up card from Sincerely Rina's tutorial on YouTube. It took three tries to get it but I finally figured it out. The hardest part is getting the mechanism to fold correctly before you glue it on. Oy! Here is the front and the inside.

I used Lost & Found paper from My Mind's Eye (I purchased this about 4 years ago) for this card. I used a retired Stampin' Up stamp set for the cake and birthday sentiment. I used some what I believe are K&Co. die cut flowers and found a birthday poem on scrapbook.com for the inside panels. I am running low on embellishments so I needed something to take up the panel spaces! A poem did nicely :)

Paper Calla Lilly Bouquet Tutorial

Several years ago I bought this stamp set of flower petals in varying sizes. I ended up making calla lilies with them, and they turned out wonderful!

I finally decided to do a tutorial on them. I made a video since it is easier to explain. The YouTube video tutorial is located here: https://youtu.be/V12K4LrUnhg. The PDF file for the petal shape is located here on Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8C21IID_PWkd1k4SGtVWlRVR1E/view?usp=sharing

Let me know if you try these out and what you think!

Joy Fold Wedding Card -- House of Cards Challenge!

This month's House of Cards challenge is to make a gatefold card. I chose to make a joy fold card which is a modified gate fold. You can find the tutorial I followed here on YouTube. I chose a wedding theme as my cousin is getting married on Saturday the 8th and I thought I could give it to her on her special day.

I used DCWV Primrose paper for this card. I used Prima's Something Blue chipboard pieces for my embellishments.

I chose to grab a poem from scrapbook.com and put it on the card as a little extra touch.

Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to leave a comment, I read each and every one!

Happily Ever After Wedding Mini Album

Last year my best friend got married and I made a mini album for her to put her pictures and memories in. It took me awhile to finish and when I was done it sat under my desk while I waited until I had enough money to mail it. Unfortunately my chair wheels hit the album and damaged it, so I've held onto it unsure of whether I should send it to her or not. I decided to pull it out and repair it the best I could and mail it to her in a few weeks. It's a great album, and I'm very proud of it and hope she likes it as much as I do!

The cover. This is an invisible hinge binding album that is 3.75" thick and weighs at least 4 pounds. I used the Primrose stack from DCWV and accessories from the Something Blue collection by Prima. Lots of I Am Roses on the front of this and chipboard pieces.

There are two tags missing from the left page in this photo but they tuck under the right panel. The right page is a waterfall photo mat.

On the left there is just a photo mat and a pocket for the tags sticking out on the left side. I have Life and Good popped up on dimensionals for some added interest. The right page has a photo mat that opens up to reveal three more mats inside. There are several tags tucked in behind it.

I love the page on the left with the banner. I made the photo corners myself with cardstock and washi tape, and they are functional! I have a few photo mats tucked in behind. On the right there is an envelope that holds more photo mats/tags and behind it are more tucked in.

This spread features 5 2x2" photo mats. I used glittered chipboard Thickers that did NOT want to stay on no matter what glue I used. After a TON of hot glue, they are finally stuck. I made the yellow flower out of lace and costume satin.

The left page holds a 4-mat photo mat and tags that tuck into the paper on the bottom. On the right there are 3 photo mats.

On the left is a lace pocket for tags. On the right is a photo mat that has many places for pictures and a few coordinating tags.

Finally we have the last pages! Where the paper clip is on the left is an opening photo mat with space behind it for more tags. On the right I used white and gold (it looks purple) ribbon to make a pocket for more photo mats and tags.

Shabby Chic Layout Featuring Sydney the Hemingway Cat

Today I want to share a layout I made a few weeks ago featuring my beautiful cat Sydney. Before I go on, I wish I had made the photo bigger but it's ok, it's done and it's still pretty!

I used a paper stack I bought a few years ago, I can't remember the name of it because I lost the cover, so I apologize if you were wondering. I printed the photo in black and white only because my printer was messed up and wouldn't print magenta ink so everything I printed in color looked really funny. But it goes well with the layout because of course all colors go with black and white! I used the pink damask paper as my base and added a torn sheet on top of it and rolled the edges under and back and inked them with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. I used a stencil from Walmart with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink to help the page have some more interest. Next I started cutting out shapes from the paper stack (circles and other shapes) and layered everything. I used gold lace and a half-back pearl string to outline the photo area. I used lots of I Am Roses and a couple of flat Primas. I added a Tim Holtz adage ticket and a Tim Holtz metal frame for the word "play." Since I am running low on letters I used a cutout from the paper stack as my title, A Moment Captured. I really need a Silhouette die cutting machine!

In the photo Sydney is lying on my legs in a big recliner with my zebra print blanket. I disturbed her slumber with a photo. I just think she is so gorgeous! She's a gray tuxedo and polydactyl/Hemingway cat meaning she has extra toes on her feet, and it looks like she has thumbs! Here's a photo of her where you can see her wittle thumbs :)

Everyone thought I should have named her Mittens!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!
